Microneedling is a professional skincare procedure that uses tiny punctures on the surface of the skin to induce a renewed collagen response. This is a great treatment for treating acne scars and the signs of aging. Microneedling is also safe for all skin tones which makes it an exceptionally versatile procedure that also can treat pigmentation and texture issues.
Microneedling is often combined with other procedures such as chemical peels to promote the best and longest lasting results. When performing an alternating protocol like this, patients usually space the treatments four to six weeks apart. This is because the skin needs to heal between treatments. Performing them too close together can cause further skin irritation.
But, what about dermal fillers? How long after microneedling can you get filler?
For the most part, the same rules apply to filler. However, depending on how you respond to both treatments, it is possible that both the injector and esthetician are comfortable performing the treatments closer together. Since filler injections are more localized, they can be worked around. If a patient has lip filler, for their own comfort they may consider waiting a week, but otherwise, they can immediately undergo microneedling safely.
If a patient is considering a deeper microneedling procedure like RF microneedling, they like will want to wait until the filler is fully settled because the deeper penetration of the radiofrequency could potentially harm filler results. If a patient prefers to stay on the safe side, then waiting at leat four weeks is best.
The Jindal Institute for Youthful Aging provides high quality cosmetic injections and professional skincare procedures. Dr. Jindal and his team customize each treatment to the individual patient. Part of this is evaluating the procedures that a patient has had within the previous few weeks.
